“어떠한 인상이 기억되는가,
그 인상은 어떻게 변주되는가.“
이러한 주제를 지닌 이번 작품들은 2014년 발표했던 ‘The Pieces of Dream’의 연장선에서 디자인의 발상을 회화적인 작품으로 전개한 것이다. 지그문트 프로이트의 자유연상법(Free Association)과 관련하여 디자인 발상 방법의 연구는 인간의 무의식에 내재되었던 기억이 어떻게 작품을 하는데 영향을 미치고, 그것을 어떻게 해석하여 적용하는지에 관한 것이었다. 이 연구를 바탕으로 작품 주제에 대한 근원적인 접근 방법과 전개 과정을 스케치와 페인팅으로 표현하고 있다.

언제부턴가 인상 속의 소재인 몸, 새, 창, 문, 구름, 나뭇가지 등에 더욱 집중하고 표현하면서 패션과 무관한 듯한 작품을 그리기 시작하였다. 그 작품들은 패션과 관련되어 또 다른 변주된 이미지로 떠올랐고 그것을 패션일러스트레이터로 일한지 20년이 지나 패션회화라는 말로 표현하려한다.
패션회화는 간단하고 명료하다. 패션의 이미지를 담은 회화이다. 그러므로 이번 전시에서는 현재와 과거의 전시를 비교하면서 개인의 기억된 현실의 이미지와 왜곡된 꿈의 표상을 다양한 측면으로 풀어가면서 패션회화를 선보이고 있다.
